Interpretation of application

Target

Student earns target when addressing what character development is and how it is used in Lord of the Flies. On their body biography they show examples from the text that describe their character and help the audience understand their character. Can be single words, phrases, quotes, pictures, or colors.
Acceptable

Student earns acceptable if examples are given but there are few quotes or direct textual artifacts. Character description is there but lacks a few elements that help the reader know the character.
Unacceptable

Character is basically drawn on the paper but lacks textual evidence to support knowing the character. Just a picture - few to no words, quotes, or other symbols from the text.
Collaboration

Target

To earn target students discuss in their groups what character development is. They consider how Golding used it in his novel and how it affects his characters and the situations they are involved in.
Acceptable

Students discuss in small groups what character development is. They also posit how Golding used it in his novel but give less attention to their particular character and how their character interacts with others.
Unacceptable

Students attempt to discuss in small groups and may come up with a definition for character development. Mostly they remain off task and off topic.
