Preparation	Poor No visible signs of preparation are apparent.	Fair Some attention has been paid to preparing for performance though at this point it is insuffienct for actable moments.	Good Monologue is prepared.	Very Good Monologue is prepared and performed with ease and agility. No visible signs of searching for lines.	Excellent Monologue is prepared and performed with virtuosity, as if it were second nature.
Projection	Poor Projection was not evident.	Fair Projection is insuffienct at times to be clearly heard throughout the auditorium.	Good Monologue is heard throughout auditorium.	Very Good Monologue is projected with clarity and ease. Allowing the audience to sit back and hear.	Excellent Monologue is easily heard by audience. Vocal variety does not affect audibility.
Articulation	Poor Articulation was not evident.	Fair Some attention has been paid to articulation; however, words are difficult to distinguish.	Good Words are articulated and easily understood.	Very Good Words are precisely and clearly articulated.	Excellent Every word is clear, energized, and dynamic.
Vocal Variety	Poor No attempt has been made to develop Vocal Variety.	Fair Vocal Variety is attempted but remains undefined and static.	Good Vocal Variety is established. Demonstrating performer's awareness of rate, pitch and volume.	Very Good Vocal Variety is dynamic and compelling.	Excellent Vocal Variety is dynamic and shifts quickly and progressively to keep audience actively engaged.
Focus	Poor Focus is not established.	Fair Focus is established somewhat, but it shifts and disappears regularly.	Good Focus is established. Monologue is delievered to a specific point.	Very Good Focus is established and generates response from the performer.	Excellent Focus is incredibly clear. Monologue is compellingly delivered to the "other."
