Writing I Am Poetry Writing I Am Poetry Students will write a "I Am" poem using a given format. Poem will reflect the student's thoughts and feelings and will contain the correct format. Poem written in correct format	Advanced Poem follows the "I Am..." format given completely.	Proficient Poem follows the proper format for the most part. There are a few minor errors, but overall, the format is basically correct.	Basic Poem has sections where the format is followed, but there are many mistakes.	Below Basic Poem does not use the assigned format.
Poem expresses writer's feelings	Advanced Entire poem shows reflection and expression of feelings on the part of the character. It gives real insight into the character and demonstrates accurate character emotion from the text.	Proficient Poem shows acceptable evidence of the character's feelings and reflections. Most of the poem expresses proper depth and insight of the selected character.	Basic Poem is basic, generic, and shows very little reflection of the selected character. The character's feelings are somewhat revealed as true to the text.	Below Basic Poem shows almost no thought on the part of the writer.The character's feelings are not revealed as true to the text.
Poem is grammatically correct	Advanced Poem is neatly presented, with no mistakes. Spelling, grammar, and format are, for the most part, correct.	Proficient Poem is neatly presented, with minor mistakes in spelling, grammar and/or format. Mistakes do not detract from meaning.	Basic Poem is neatly presented, but there are several spelling, grammar and format errors.	Below Basic Poem is not neatly written . Writer has too many errors in grammar, spelling, and/or format.
