Rock Identification
	Poor 1 pts	Fair 2 pts	Good 3 pts	Excellent 4 pts
Description	Poor Student gave little to no description about their rocks.	Fair Student attempted a description but was not accurate or detailed.	Good Student gave a somewhat detailed and accurate description of their selected rocks.	Excellent Student gave a detailed and accurate description about their rocks that went above and beyond.
Explanation	Poor Student gave little to no explanation about how they identified the rocks.	Fair Student attempted an explanation about how they identified their rocks but gave no distinction.	Good Student gave a competent explanation about how they identified the rocks they did.	Excellent Student gave a clear and well-thought out explanation that demonstrated their reasoning for identifying the rocks.
Venn Diagram	Poor The student only listed one or two similarities or differences about their rocks.	Fair Student attempted the Venn Diagram but the information was not accurate/detailed.	Good Student completed a Venn diagram that briefly compared and contrasted their rocks.	Excellent The student completed a detailed Venn diagram comparing and contrasting their rocks characteristics such as; color, texture, size.
Partner analysis	Poor The student attempted to discuss their findings with their partner but did not communicate.	Fair The student attempted to work with their partner and discussed at least one rock identification.	Good The student worked with their partner to discuss their individual findings.
