Exemplary Student devotes a lot of time and effort to the writing process (prewriting, drafting, reviewing, and editing). Works hard to make a strong essay.
Content	Poor Because	Developing Student devotes some time and effort answerng into the assignment, there is a serious lack of effort and consistency as the students does not fulfill the requirements of the task.	Satisfactory Student devotes some time and effort into completing the assignment however, better organization, understanding and coherence, student has done enough to get by.	Thorough Student devotes adequate time and effort and the assignment is generally well done, however, student could put more effort to refine his/her thinking.	Exemplary Student devotes a lot of time and effort and the student has clearly shown that they have understood the assignment and their assignment is strong as they show clear and concrete understanding.
Presentation	Poor Because	Developing Student has clearly not put enough effort into presenting to the teacher a clean written report with all the necessary work.	Satisfactory Student has done enough to get by, effort and cleanliness can be greatly improved.	Thorough Student has done a good job and his/her report is clean and has all the necessary work.	Exemplary Student has clearly put in extra effort and has creatively "spiced up" his/her report. All necessary work is included.
