Creative Expression	Exceeds Standard Assignment shows extreme creativity and goes above and beyond expectations for assignment. Extra time was put into this piece of writing.	Proficient Assignment shows creativity and is in the correct format.	Partially Proficient Assignment shows some creativity, but is not in correct format.	Unsatisfactory Assignment does not show any creativity, or work was not origional work from the student.
Voice	Exceeds Standard Writing piece has a clear sense of audience and engages them throughout the entire written piece. The entire piece is focused on the topic with a lot of detail.	Proficient Writing piece has a sense of audience and flows well when listening to the writing piece. Most of it is focused on the topic with some detail.	Partially Proficient Writing piece has a small sense of audience, but goes in and out of being clear in reguards to staying on topic. There is not a lot of detail.	Unsatisfactory Writing piece has no sense of understanding of an audience. It is not focused on the topic.
Punctuation/Grammar	Exceeds Standard Author used correct punctuation and grammar.	Proficient Author had a few mistakes, but none that inhibited the comprehension of the written piece.	Partially Proficient Author had several mistakes. Or some inhibited the comprehension of the written piece.	Unsatisfactory Author had many mistakes. The piece of work was difficult to understand because of grammar and punctuation mistakes.
Writing Style Execution	Exceeds Standard Author has exceeded in using the elements of the week's assignment. The author has taken ownership over the new writing style.	Proficient Author has successfully imitated the writing style. There were attempts to mix the week's style with the author's own.	Partially Proficient Author made some successful attempts to imitate this week's writing style.	Unsatisfactory Author attempted to use this week's elements. There was little or no evidence of using the new writing style.
Participation	Exceeds Standard Author offered thoughtful and helpful suggestions and critiques on everyone's piece. Author showed leadership in the writer's circle.	Proficient Author offered meaningful critiques and suggestions for improvement to fellow students. Offered 3-4 suggestions in his/her circle.	Partially Proficient Author attempted to participate meaningfully. Only 1 or 2 suggestions were made.	Unsatisfactory Author made some attempt to participate in writing circles, but actions or suggestions were inappropriate.
