Question 1

Teacher says 3d shape name and asks student to point to the corresponding 3d shape block. (This shows ability to identify the 3d figures and their understanding of them. It also shows their mathematical reasoning skills as they are having to pick out the correct 3d shape from the group, using their problem solving skills to determine the correct shape.)

Meets Expectations

Student was able to identify all 4 3d figures accurately. The pointed to the correct block when teacher asked to identify the sphere, cube, cylinder, and cone. Student give's at least one attribute about 3d figures.
Does Not Meet Expectation

Student incorrectly identified less than 4 of the 3d figures.
Question 2

Teacher asks student how they know that these are 3d shapes. (This shows student mathematical reasoning skills and conceptual understanding skills as students are being asked to explain their thinking and understanding of what makes a 3d figure.

Meets Expectations

Student must explain at least one attribute about 3d shapes to meet mastery. Acceptable answers include but are not limited to: "I knew these were 3d figures because they were solid, not flat."

Since this lesson was focused on this attribute of 3d figures, the students will most likely share this attribute example.
