Durability/Construction
Excellent
The mask was a 3-dimensional sculpture using cardboard and paper sculpture techniques to express an authentic looking mask
Good
Most of the mask is sturdy, but when displaying it, there are a couple of pieces that might need extra care.
Poor
The mask is flimsy and falls apart easily. It may not last for display.
Creativity
Excellent
Totally original design and elements. Mask successfully uses symmetry, balance, pattern and unity. Color, composition, and decorative details enhance the mask.
Good
Most of the mask elements are unique, however, a few may have been copied.
Poor
The mask has few or no unique elements.
Structure
Excellent
Students successfully employed 3 or more layers on their mask to represent the 3-dimensional quality.
Good
Students used 1-2 layers on their mask and most seem to represent the art of Africa.
Poor
Students used no layers or 3-d quality on their mask.
Craftsmanship
Excellent
Great care and time were given in the design of the mask. The mask is aesthetically appealing and shows no flaws.
Good
The mask design was well thought out and planned using the elements and principles of art. There are a few flaws marks, and added materials, but these do not detract from the overall look.
Poor
The mask looks thrown together at the last minute. It appears that little design or planning was done.
Haiku
Excellent
The poem is reflective of the mask and student. It is a properly written Haiku in 5-7-5 format.
Good
The poem mostly reflects the mask but it is still properly formatted.
Poor
The poem does not reflect the mask or is not properly formatted.
Haiku Presentation
Excellent
Very well done. Lots of effort was put into this part of the project.
Good
Well done and thought of. Leaves room for improvement.
Poor
Poorly done. Looks like it was thrown together at the last minute.
