The claim is well crafted and challenges the reader to delve into causes and effects on a deep level. Claim is clearly and vividly described in "x impacts y" terms. No logical fallacies.
Good B

The claim is thoughtfully crafted and shows evidence of good planning. Claim shows that "x impacts y," but not necessarily in a vivid manner. Very few logical fallacies.
Fair C

There is a claim, but it is predictable and does not push the reader toward critical thinking. Claim does not make it clear that "x impacts y." Shows some fallacies in logic.
Poor D

There is no recognizable claim or it is so weak that it is not compelling. Claim is not described in "x impacts y" terms. Significant logical fallacies.
Organization

The introduction hooks attention. Body supports and proves the claim. The analysis is effective and well thought out.
Good B

The paper provides no references, or the references do little to support the claim. Sources are missing OR invalid.
Writing Skills

Excellent A+

The essay contains excellent vocabulary, active verbs, and varied sentence structure. Paragraphs link with effective transitions to mark relationships. Writing is vibrant and interesting.
Good B

The essay uses good vocabulary and attempts to vary sentence structure. The writer uses transition words to link paragraphs. Writing is somewhat interesting, but not outstanding.
Fair C

The essay uses words correctly, but does not stretch for usage. Few transitions exist between paragraphs. Writing is lacking in vibrancy and interest.
