Fair Question/Topic is semi-specific, measurable, and realistic.	Poor Question/Topic is broad and/or unrealistic. Student seems to be confused about purpose of project.
Hypothesis	Excellent Hypothesis is testable and directly relates to the purpose. Reasons are given for making this hypothesis.	Very Good Hypothesis is testable, directly relates to the purpose.	Fair Hypothesis correlates to the purpose, but is difficult to test.	Poor Hypothesis does not answer the research question and is not testable.
Materials and Procedure	Excellent ALL required materials are listed. Steps are logical and thorough, easily followed.	Very Good Student included all items required. Steps are logical and thorough, easily followed, but one step may be missing or confusing.	Fair Student included most items required. Steps are logical, but somewhat confusing.	Poor Student did not list all necessary items, or use appropriate materials. Steps are not detailed or logical, and/or missing. It would be extremely difficult to follow or duplicate this experiment.
