Listening Behavior	Poor Student frequently falls asleep, puts head on desk, or engages in other activities with no regard to the task at hand.	Moderate Student occasionally puts head on desk or gets distracted. Student brings up superfluous subjects and occasionally interrupts instructor.	Great Student listens attentively, showing proper physical posture. Student does not allow himself to be distracted by other things and does not bring up superfluous subjects or interrupt instructor.
Pronunciation	Poor Student frequently mispronounces familiar words.	Moderate Student occasionally mispronounces familiar words.	Great Student rarely or never mispronounces familiar words. Student asks instructor for verification if he is unsure.
New Words	Poor Student stumbles over or completely ignores unfamiliar words in the passage.	Moderate Student guesses at unfamiliar words or sounds them out, but moves on without verification from instructor.	Great Student slowly sounds out unfamiliar words and asks instructor for help when necessary.
Pacing	Poor Student reads at a slow, sporadic pace. Student often pauses inappropriately or stops reading all together.	Moderate Student reads at a slow but steady pace. Student may pause with unfamiliar words or syntax, but overall the student follows standard pacing.	Great Student reads with an appropriate and steady pace, pausing and stopping when appropriate.
Detail Recall	Poor Student cannot recall any details from the passage.	Moderate Student can recall major details such as main character names, overall plot, etc.	Great Student can recall major details and minor details such as street names, minor character names, and dialogue.
Overall Comprehension	Poor Student cannot give any summary of the passage.	Moderate Student can give a somewhat accurate summary of the passage with some prompting from the instructor.	Great Student can give an accurate and succinct summary of the passage.
