Connections For Real Link a poem, fim, or other text that connect thematically to the book. Summarize the book you read and the connected text. Choose key passages and/or lines from each text and analyze the relationships using logical connective reasoning. Good Student effectively shows a thematic link between their chosen text, and one of the following choices: poem, film, short story, another text.	Excellent Student effectively shows a thematic link between their chosen text, and TWO of the following choices: poem, film, short story, another text.
Summary	Poor Very brief summary of the primary source, no summary of secondary choice.	Fair Both summaries of the primary source and secondary choice are brief and/or incomplete.	Good Reasonably detailed summary how the book connects. The secondary choice is briefly summarized. OR Reasonably detailed summary of the secondary choice and the primary book is only briefly summarized.	Excellent Well detailed summary of both the primary book and the secondary choice.
Analysis	Poor Student does not effectively analyze how the book and secondary choice connect. Text evidence given does not logically support the connection, or is absent completely.	Fair Student gives a very matter-of-fact analysis of how the book connects to the secondary choice, and struggles with the text evidence correctly supporting their analysis.	Good Student is able to engage in an interesting analysis on the way the book is connected to the secondary choice. They have chosen their textual evidence well, but may struggle explaining how it supports their analysis.	Excellent Student is able to engage in an interesting analysis on the way book is connected to the secondary choices. They have chosen their textual evidence well, and were able to adequately explain how it supports their analysis.
Conventions	Poor Many errors in spelling, punctuation, and/or capitalization. May make comprehension difficult, but not unreadable.
