Connections 
Link a poem, fim, or other text that connect thematically to the book. Summarize the book you read and the connected text. Choose key passages and/or lines from each text and analyze the relationships using logical connective reasoning.

Student does not effectively analyze how the book and secondary choice connect. Text evidence given does not logically support the connection, or is absent completely.
Fair

Student gives a very matter-of-fact analysis of how the book connects to the secondary choice, and struggles with the text evidence correctly supporting their analysis.
Good

Student is able to engage in an interesting analysis on the way the book is connected to the secondary choice. They have chosen their textual evidence well, but may struggle explaining how it supports their analysis.
Excellent

Student is able to engage in an interesting analysis on the way book is connected to the secondary choices. They have chosen their textual evidence well, and were able to adequately explain how it supports their analysis.
