The definition is revelatory and narrowly focused.
Good B

The claim is thoughtfully crafted and shows evidence of good planning. Very few logical fallacies. The claim is revelatory but not narrowly focused.
Fair C

There is an argument, but it is predictable and does not push the reader toward critical thinking. Shows some fallacies in logic. The claim of value is not revelatory.
Poor D

There is no recognizable claim/argument or it is so weak that it is not compelling. Significant logical fallacies.
Organization

The introduction hooks attention. Body supports and explains why the claim of value is being made. The analysis is effective and well thought out and the argument is focused.

Poor D

The paper provides no references, or the references do little to support the argument. Sources are missing OR invalid.
Writing Skills

The essay contains excellent vocabulary, active verbs, and varied sentence structure. Paragraphs link with effective transitions to mark relationships. Writing is vibrant and interesting.

Fair C

The essay uses words correctly, but does not stretch for usage. Few transitions exist between paragraphs. Writing is lacking in vibrancy and interest.
