Introductory Paragraph 4 pts This paragraph introduces the essay's purpose and includes a thorough thesis statement. Thesis statement should be ONE sentence that includes the essay's purpose along with three points that prove the that purpose. It also contains a clearly stated topic sentence (hook); the body fully and clearly explains the steps involved in doing or making something; the conclusion effectively ends the writing with the last step, with the author's perspective on the activity, or with a clincher statement	EXCELLENT The introduction contains a topic sentence (hook); the body explains the steps involved in doing or making something; the conclusion presents the last step or another logical ending.	GOOD The introduction contains a topic sentence (hook), but the sentence may be unclear, imprecise, or undeveloped; the body explains only some of the steps involved in doing or making something; the conclusion does not present the last step or any other logical reflection on the process.	FAIR The introduction lacks a topic sentence (hook); the body does not break the process into steps; the conclusion is missing or repetitive
First Body Paragraph 4 pts This paragraph should include the thesis statements first main point. It must be effectively explained using specific evidence. Thorough details must be given. The writer must be specific and end with a mini-conclusion of topic.	EXCELLENT Essay included a First Body Paragraph which stated the thesis statements. Second Body Paragraph 4 pts This paragraph should begin with a transition and include the thesis statements first main point. It must be effectively explained using specific evidence. Thorough details must be given. Explains a good action done by their celebrities.	EXCELLENT Essay included a Second Body Paragraph which stated the thesis statements second point thoroughly and with specific details.Successfully includes topic sentence,and detailes sentences. Between 7-5 lines.	GOOD Attempts to successfully include topic sentence, elaboration on reason #2, evidence set-up, evidence, evidence follow-up, wrap-up of reason #2. Between 4-3 lines.	FAIR Essay did include a Second Body Paragraph but fails to include evidence and wrap-up of reason #2. Less than 3 lines
Conclusion 4 pts The last paragraph should be a thorough summary of the points made within the essay. The points should once again be tied back to the essay purpose.	EXCELLENT Essay included a Conclusion which stated a thorough summary of the points made within the essay. The points were once again tied back to the essay's thesis statement. Between 7-5 lines.	GOOD Closing paragraph concludes essay in satisfactory manner. However, author's position and / or an effective restatement of main idea or thesis may be lacking. Between 4-3 lines.	FAIR Conclusion is weak and at times confusing in terms of author's position with little reference to main idea or thesis. Less than 3 lines
Spelling & Punctuation 4 pts Punctuation, Capitalization, Consistent Point of view and verb tense. Essay should be checked for correct spelling and punctuation. Essay should also be edited prior to being handed in.	EXCELLENT There are few or no errors in mechanics, usage, grammar, or spelling. Format 4 pts Essay should be typed in 12 pt font, Essays lengths should be a minimum of 1 typed page. Format clearly shows where each paragraph begins and ends.	EXCELLENT Essay's format is clear and organized. Essay is typed in 12 pt font, and equaled the minimum length of one page. Paper is 4 paragraphs. It has a celebrity image	GOOD Not correct size font, It's not correct justified.	FAIR Essay is somewhat organized but not quite complete. Paper is 3-2 paragraphs.
