	Poor The student attempted to answer the responses but poorly written. 1 pts	Fair The student attempted to answer the responses but not enough supportive information. 2 pts	Very Good The student did a good job on answering the responses 3 pts	Excellent The student did a great job on answering the responses. 4 pts
Response Criteria Short answers have well developed sentence response for each question.	Poor Basic/non-developed sentence(s) is/are written.	Fair Poorly developed sentence(s) is/are written.	Very Good Developed sentence(s) is/are written.	Excellent Well developed sentence(s) is/are written.
Stayed on Topic Response is well organized, answered correctly. Sentence structure is varied. Explanation is on topic	Poor Responses are weak on organization and information is weak.	Fair Response have some organization. Missing some information. Limited on explanation.	Very Good Responses are organized, but missing some information in the explanation.	Excellent Responses are organized. Each sentence is well organized to explain answer and have concluding sentence.
Explanation is well written Responses have supportive details, displays knowledge and facts from the tex to answer the questions.	Poor Limited on explanation. Some details given. Sentence structure is incoherent and no explanation is offered.	Fair Some details given, but uses “flat” language. Explanation is given but very few facts and/or knowledge used from the text/novel/article.	Very Good Has some details, and the language is descriptive. Some facts are given. Knowledge is applied from the text/novel/article.	Excellent Sentences have great word choice. Facts and knowledge and details are evident from the text/novel/article.
Grammar Correct spelling, punctuation, grammar, and capitalization are used.	Poor 3+/numerous errors in all grammar conventions.	Fair 3 errors in spelling, grammar, or punctuation interfere with the overall response.	Very Good 1-2 errors occur in spelling, grammar, or punctuation, but do not affect the overall response.	Excellent No errors occur in spelling, no run ons, or punctuation errors.
