Essay Format	Poor I did not follow the instructions for properly formatting my essay. There were a lot of errors that I didn't fix.	Fair I did a good job on formatting my essay, but I found a few mistakes.	Good I did a great job formatting my essay. It looks very professional, neat and organized.
Paragraph essay	Poor I did not use proper paragraph form on my essay. I didn't indent and many of my sentences are not organized correctly in the proper paragraph.	Fair I used paragraphs in my essay but I have just a few mistakes with indents and sentences that do not belong.	Good The paragraphs in my essay are indented and every paragraph has a topic sentence.
Organization of ideas	Poor I needed to brainstorm more because my ideas were very scattered. I do not have a clear idea that runs through my essay.	Fair My ideas are somewhat organized; I came up with ideas when I brainstormed and used them in my essay.	Good I used the ideas that I came up with and wrote them clearly in my essay. As a result, my essay reads fluently.
Written sentences	Poor My written sentences are choppy. I did not spend enough time on what I wanted to say in each sentence. I found incomplete sentences and sentences that just don't make sense.	Fair I have complete sentences with just one or two that are too short or don't make sense.	Good I have well written sentences that are complete and stand on their own. I use conjunctions to combine many of my sentences and I also use sentences that support my ideas.
Revised and Edited	Poor I did not proofread my essay, thus I have a lot of glaring errors that I missed. I need to spend more time reading over my writing.	Fair I found just a few errors that I did not know how to fix. The rest of my essay is free of glaring errors.	Good I did not find any glaring errors. My essay does not have spelling mistakes and all my punctuation is correct.
Supporting details	Poor I did not use any supporting ideas in my essay; I could have spent much more time thinking about what I wanted to write about.	Fair I have good support about what I am trying to say in my essay. Each of my paragraphs is about a different idea.	Good I have used several ideas to support what I am trying to say in my essay; as a result my essay is fluent and my ideas are very clear. I am proud of what I have written.
