Reading fluency	Poor Had numerous mistakes in each sentence, repeatedly needed help pronouncing words.	Good Minimal mistakes in reading story out loud and could figure out how to pronounce trouble words on their own.	Excellent No mistakes in reading and pronunciation of words. Enunciated well.
Book Review	Poor Did not turn in assignment or turned it in incomplete or sloppy unreadable work.	Good Completed assignment with necessary information but did not go into detail on each point.	Excellent Understood lesson well and articulated points of story such as plot, theme, rising action, resolution, etc. in detail. Neatly prepared.
Test on story & author	Poor Missed 7 or more of the questions. Did not appear to have read or understood the story.	Good Missed 4 to 6 out of the 27 questions.	Excellent Missed 0 to 2 questions. Was able to recall all or majority of the story and biography facts.
Class Participation	Poor Did not participate in classroom discussion of book, author or movie or was disruptive during discussion. Daydreaming.	Good Particpated in all discussions when asked a question but did not initiate any discussion.	Excellent Initiated discussions, asked questions, gave opinions, was fully engaged in conversation and articulated well.
Artistic illustrations	Poor Did not complete a daily illustration, if so did not try to present a clean, or well-made illustration. Used only one medium such as a pen and presented on par with a stick figure.	Good Created illustrations on time with some imagination but seemed more motivated to just complete the project.	Excellent Created well-made illustrations with obvious thought and imagination. Work whether well-made because of student's lack of artistic ability still showed enthusiam and hard work.
