This Rubric will be use to Formally Assess the students in their Key Criteria for this project include: word limit, content, use of grammar and punctuation, and organization.

	Excellent 6 pts	Good 4 pts	Fair 3 pts	Poor 2 pts
Word-limit	Excellent Length requirement of 500-750 words is met.	Good Length of essay a bit short, yet still within reasonable limit of the 500 word minimum.	Fair Essay is too short, showing that perhaps not much time or effort was put into it.	Poor A very shot and quickly put together essay suggesting very little effort put into this at all.
Content	Excellent The paper illustrates a complete understanding of book banning and good research is presented in the essay. Some parallels are made with Fahrenheit 451.	Good The paper lacks a sense of complete understanding of book banning, though some positive elements are apparent in the paper, with perhaps a few comparisons with Fahrenheit 451.	Fair The paper understands general concepts associated with book banning, however lacks the attention to content details necessary for an effective paper. Not much connection with the novel here.	Poor The paper shows poor effort on the part of the student, going so far as to suggest not having done much research, or research done is obviously not their own.
Organization	Excellent The paper is well organized, information is clearly stated and there is a natural flow between topics. Good points are brought up and even some questions posed to the reader.	Good Organization of the paper made the flow of the essay have some bumps along the way, though overall the intent was clear.	Fair A distinct lack of organization is apparent throughout the paper, hindering the flow of the paper and making it a challenge for the reader.	Poor The paper shows little to no effort on the part of the student. Organization is not present, and the lack of flow in the paper makes it tedious reading.
Grammar and Punctuation	Excellent A flawless paper that adheres to the grammar and punctuation rules.	Good A few mistakes but nothing major that hinders the reader's understanding.	Fair Quite a few mistakes that takes away from the written paper. Using grammar or spell check in Microsoft Word would have helped.	Poor The paper is filled with writing errors, showing that little to no effort on proofreading went into your paper.
