Listing Traits	Poor Student can list 1-2 of the traits or fewer	Fair Student can list 3-4 of the Traits	Good Student can list 5-6 of the traits	Excellent Student can list all 7 traits
Knowledge of Traits	Poor Student is unable to define the majority of traits or elaborate upon them.	Fair Student has a base definition of the traits and is able to communicate well enough the how the traits relate to each other	Good Student can give strong definition for most of the traits and can demonstrate a how some of them are linked together.	Excellent Student can fully define all 7 traits and can clearly communicate the links between the different traits
Demonstrate Understanding of Traits	Poor Student is able to provide examples for only 1-2 of the different traits	Fair Student is able to provide examples for 3-4 of the different traits.	Good Student is able to provide examples for 5-6 of the different traits. Student can give examples of things with only some of these traits yet are not living due.	Excellent Student is able to provide examples for all 7 of the traits of life and is able to explain why objects without these traits are not qualified as living.
