Knowledge Understanding of vignette writing style	Level 1 - uses ideas that are not on topic - does not write in the vignette writing style	Level 2 -uses some ideas that are connected to the topic	Level 3 - uses many ideas that are connected to the topic	Level 4 - uses only ideas that are connected to the topic - writes in the vignette style and clearly understands the form of vignette writing
Thinking Use of planning skills (e.g., clear purpose, idea development, grouping of common ideas)	Level 1 - the purpose is unclear - uses very few simple ideas and no descriptive details	Level 2 - the purpose is somewhat clear - uses some simple ideas and weak descriptive details	Level 3 - the purpose is clear - uses some developed ideas and some strong descriptive details	Level 4 - the purpose is clear and interesting - uses developed ideas and strong descriptive details
