Romeo and Juliet Texts Romeo and Juliet Texts If Romeo and Juliet had fallen in love today, their communication would have probably occurred via text. Rewrite their conversations from the play in text form. One student can write Romeo’s part and one can write Juliet’s. Although you will use modern language, be sure to keep the original meaning. Accuracy	Poor Student shows understanding of the theme presented in the scene, but translation is inaccurate. They have completed the translation into texting but omitted many lines.	Fair Student has translated the lines into modern language showing some understanding of original text and Early Modern English. Students have translated most lines into text.	Good Students show true understanding of original text. Texts are true to the original version. Every line by each character is translated via text for the scene.
Understanding	Poor Student slightly understands the original words and language used.	Fair Students show understanding of the original words, language, and literary devices used in the text.	Good Students show deep understanding of original words, language, literary devices used in the text and understand the emotions and themes presented.
Format and Creativity	Poor Texts are in a format that is difficult to read and/or do not contain emojis or creative elements.	Fair Texts are somewhat difficult to read or do not contain creative elements.	Good Students present text in neat format that is easy to read. Text conversation includes emojis and creative elements.
Spelling/Grammar	Poor The final copy of the scene has more than 10 spelling/grammar errors.	Fair The final copy of the scene has more than 5 spelling/grammar errors.	Good The final copy has less than 5 spelling/grammar errors.
