Business and Entrepreneurship Showcase 
Using a business idea generated from the beginning of the year, the student will create a storyboard for their fictitious business. They will use the concepts from class as their topic headings and will use their own creative style and look for board presentation. Further, the students will create a fictitious prototype of their idea to have on display alongside their board.

Storyboard Presentation

Student's "foam board" presentation display.

Exceeds Standard

Storyboard is professional looking and student took time to print text, align sheets, and organize labels. Creativity is very evident as the board shows the student's own personality and ideas. Very high level of effort achieved.
Meets Standard

Storyboard is generic in nature and shows that the student gave an adequate effort to complete it. Printing, text, alignment is adequate but is not completely professional in appearance.
Approaching Standard

Storyboard shows little creativity and does not show much effort in completion. Printing, text, alignment are not professional looking and do not represent much effort.
Below Standard

No effort put into storyboard and no creativity. No printing done, text was handwritten on board, and alignment is not clean. Not a professional piece.
Product Prototype

Physical object or digital object created to fill role of hypothetical product

Exceeds Standard

Students show detailed creativity and demonstrated a high level of effort to create an actual mock-up of the product. DT room was continually used and teachers were shown initial ideas and thoughts. Digital designs will have website images, ideas, and detailed examples of layout.
Meets Standard

Good level of effort to produce a prototype that relatively represents student's product. Student used DT room on occasion and asked for support. Digital media was present with decent images and web designs.
Approaching Standard

Prototype did not represent product and very little effort went into using the DT lab to create a product. Very little creativity used. Very few pages or images in digital form and little effort to create mock-up website.
Below Standard

No prototype provided and no use of DT room or creativity to develop business product. No contact with teachers. No digital media present and no images or web layouts provided.
Information Overview

Presentation of business and marketing information that is on board and also discussed with visitors, staff, or students.

Exceeds Standard

Very thorough and detailed description of business model and accurate data provided for each required heading. Targets and marketing of business is clear and defined and details are used to explain how headings will support business development. Level of effort is exemplary. Spelling and punctuation were accurate.
Meets Standard

Required headings have adequate detail and cover the basics of what was discussed in class. Decent amount of information is provided to support business and how it will develop. Student put in an adequate effort to obtain data. Spelling and punctuation were evident but mistakes found.
Approaching Standard

Student made little effort to correctly link business idea to material and information provided. Material not detailed and did not adequately meet the description of the required headings. Spelling and grammar were poor and inaccurate and no proofreading was done to check for mistakes.
Below Standard

Little or no material provided that tied business idea to classroom material. Material that was provided was done quickly and with no effort and no research or supporting evidence was shown to demonstrate an accurate thought process. Spelling and punctuation errors throughout text and no proofreading was done for mistakes.
Student Understanding

How well student understands their product and how they can apply the issues discussed in class to their product.

Exceeds Standard

Student demonstrated great knowledge of their product and had a clear understanding and connection to the material provided in class. Oral presentations were concise and clear and adequate detail and information was provided in answers.
Meets Standard

Student provided adequate understanding of product and marketing, and was able to provide a decent connection to the material presented in class. Answers to questions were relatively clear and student showed marginal effort in understanding their product and the markets.
Approaching Standard

Student did not meet adequate levels of understanding of their product and did not fully understand the connection to the classroom material. Answers to questions were vague and not concise and did not show a clear effort and understanding of their product.
Below Standard

No effort was made to understand their business concept and how it relates to the classroom discussions. Student does not understand how business ideas are started and how they can apply simple business practices to make them successful.
