Course Description: Students will demonstrate their knowledge of reaseach and paragraph organization by writing a 5-paragraph essay utilizing the writing process of planning, organizing, writing, evaluating and revising. *Note: The first 5 criteria of this rubric have been duplicated from the the Steck-Vaughn GED Essay.

LS 2C - 5 Paragraph Essay 20 % This rubric is used to help readers score an essay. *Note: The first 5 criteria of this rubric have been duplicated from the the Steck-Vaughn GED Essay.
	Advanced Reader understands and easily follows the writer’s expression of ideas. 4 pts	Proficient Reader understands<BR> writer’s ideas. 3 pts	Partially Proficient Reader occasionally has<BR> difficulty understanding<BR> or following the writer’s ideas. 2 pts	Incomplete Reader has difficulty identifying or following the writer’s ideas. 1 pts
Religion- Culture 20 % Topic: Students will be able to identify the culture and a "health event associated" with this culture.	Advanced Presents a clearly focused main idea that addresses the topic. There is a clear, concise and focused topic sentence. (What type of health event does this type of religion believe it?) ie circumcision, death	Proficient Uses the writing prompt to establish a main idea. Topic sentence is clear, but may not be focused.	Partially Proficient Addresses the prompt, though the focus may shift.	Incomplete Attempts to address prompt but with little or no success in<BR> establishing a focus.
Organization 20 % How will the Healthcare worker work through possible conflict?	Advanced Establishes a clear and logical organization.	Proficient Uses an identifiable<BR> organizational plan.	Partially Proficient Shows some evidence of an organizational plan.	Incomplete Fails to organize ideas.
Development & Details 20 % How will you use this information in the future as a health care provider?	Advanced Achieves coherent development with specific and relevant details and examples. Partially Proficient Has some development but lacks specific details; may be limited to a listing, repetitions, or generalizations. Spelling and Punctuation 20 %	Advanced No grammatical, spelling or punctuation errors.	Proficient One to two grammatical, spelling or punctuation errors.
