Skeleton Triptych 
Student is to draw a cropped skeleton triptych in pencil, outline in sharpie with line variation, and add a watercolor gradation to the background (negative space). Each square should consist of 80% bones and 20% negative space. Background should be filled with "Day of the Dead" inspired symbols or designs.

Needs Improvement

The student shows an undeveloped knowledge and application of art elements (line, shape , color, etc...) and little creativity. Skeleton is drawn "floating" in center of the page and does not occupy at least 80% of the space. Contour Lines are sketchy and have no variation. Painting in background shows no gradation and no "Day of the Dead" inspired symbols or design.

The student shows a developing knowledge and application of design elements and shows some creativity in design. Skeleton is not drawn to fill 80% of space but is not floating either. Contour Lines are smooth and have little variation. Painting in background shows some level of gradation. Very little to no "Day of the Dead" inspired design in background.

Meets Expectations

The student demonstrates knowledge and application of design elements and shows creativity in design. Skeleton is drawn to fill the space and there is a 80/20% ratio of positive to negative space occupied. Contour Lines are smooth and include line variation. Student blended more than one color in background and added a quality "Day of the Dead" inspired decoration.

The student shows an advanced knowledge and application of design elements and shows excellent creativity in design. Skeleton is perfectly drawn and fills at least 80% of each composition. Contour Lines are smooth and Varied, Attention to detail in skeleton and "Day of the Dead" design in background.
