Group Final Performance 
Students will arrange 2 Holiday musical selections, in a small group. The selection of music will include backing track or live accompaniment. Arrangements should also include harmonization to give texture to the piece. Performance should be creative and engaging and demonstrate your best vocal ability.

Song Selection/Memorization

Poor

Song choices do not highlight the group. Songs may be too difficult, too easy or not Holiday theme. Students are reading lyrics the entire time. No energy or effort.
Fair

Song choices are appropriate to the theme but may not be the appropriate range, key or tempo. Music isn't memorized with most students reading from sheet music. Effort is minimal and the group does not engage the audience.
Good

Song choices are appropriate and engaging. Lyrics are mostly memorized with a few students reading from devices. Performance is energetic and engaging.
Excellent

Song highlights the strength of the group and is appropriate to the theme. Songs are engaging and performed at an appropriate tempo and range. Songs are memorized and performed with energy and confidence.
Musicianship

Poor

Performance lacks the use of dynamics or phrasing. Performance is hard to follow.
Fair

Students rarely uses or misuses dynamics and phrasing and sings without musicality or expression.
Good

Group demonstrates some dynamics and phrasing, but may lack artistry and expression at times. Tone is mostly supported across vocal range
Excellent

Group performance demonstrates mature tone across all ranges, proper blend and balance and dynamics are used effectively to convey the message of the song.
Intonation/Harmony

Poor

Students are unable to match the notes sung by others in the group singing the same voice part. No harmonies performed.
Fair

Group has difficulty maintaining correct intonation and often performs flat or sharp. Breath support is lacking. Harmonization is present but not balanced or incorrect pitches. No attempts to correct problems while performing.
Good

Mostly accurate intonation and breath support with some minor intonation problems. Pitch adjustment skills are still developing. Harmonies are present but some may lack confidence at times.
Excellent

Accurate intonation with correct breath support in all ranges and registers. Pitch adjustments are made instantly. Harmonies are used appropriately to enhance the performance and executed with confidence.
