Understanding, Awareness and Expression of Emotions 
Utilized as an assessment tool to measure individual group member's level of understanding, awareness and ability to express needs, emotions, feelings. These abilities to express and understand emotions are in reference to self as well as other group members.

Expression of Own Feelings

Level 1, Novice

Little or no effort is demonstrated to express nor show understanding of one's own feelings/emotions despite prompting from staff members.
Level 2, Apprentice

Some effort is demonstrated, through expression and acknowledgement of one's own feelings/emotions. Intermittently displays ability to connect own feelings with behaviors through specifically structured group initiatives.
Level 3, Proficient

Effort is demonstrated, most of the time, through expression and acknowledgement of one's own feelings/emotions. Consistently displays ability to connect own feelings with behaviors through specifically structured group initiatives.
Level 4, Distinguished

Effort is always demonstrated, through expression and acknowledgement of one's own feelings/emotions. Frequently displays leadership in demonstrating and modeling this deeper level of emotional awareness and expression with other group members, supporting their growth and understanding in this area.
Awareness of Others Feelings

Level 1, Novice

Little or no effort is demonstrated of an awareness nor care about other group member's feelings or needs despite prompting from staff members.
Level 2, Apprentice

Some effort is demonstrated, through actions or words, of an awareness and care of other group member's feelings and needs. Intermittently displays support, respect and care about others' needs and feelings in the group.
Level 3, Proficient

Effort is demonstrated most of the time, through actions and words, of an awareness and care of other group member's feelings and needs. Consistently displays care, support and respect for others' needs and feelings in the group.
Level 4, Distinguished

Effort is always demonstrated, through actions and words, of an awareness and care of other group member's feelings and needs. Displays leadership in modeling these behaviors to other group members, and often serves as the cohesive bond between everyone in the group.
