Data and Graphing Math Project Data and Graphing Math Project Students will need to choose a topic of interest and collect data based on that topic. Students will collect their own data and display it in the appropriate graph. They will present the graph and information to the class. Students will also calculate the measures of central tendency based on their collected data. Students need a visual representation of their data (ex. chart, poster, power-point, etc). Data Collection	Poor Student collected very little or no data	Fair Teacher and student collected data using an internet source.	Excellent Student collected data from the internet with little teacher assistance if any.
Graph	Poor No Graph	Fair Graph was not appropriate nor displayed correctly for the type of data.	Excellent Graph was appropriate and displayed correctly.
Analysis	Poor Student is unable to analyze and make generalizations and make predictions about their data or graphs. Student exhibited poor effort in analyzing data.	Fair Student's ability to analyze, make generalizations and predictions about their data and graphs is limited. Student exhibited a fair effort in analyzing data.	Excellent Student's ability to analyze, make generalizations and predictions about their data and graphs is excellent. Student exhibited a superior effort in analyzing data and shows a deep understanding of the data.
Measures of Central Tendency	Poor Does not include mean, median, mode or range.	Fair Includes mean, median, mode or range, but may be missing one or calculations are not correct.	Excellent Includes mean, median, mode or range, calculations are correct.
Poster Criteria
Title	Poor Sloppy, incorrectly stated, and too small.	Fair Title is include, a grammatical error is present. Title is visible from 3 feet.	Excellent Attractive title, careful attention is paid to capital letters and punctuation. Clearly visible.
Poster Layout	Poor Little evidence that student took time or pride to assemble the poster.	Fair Poster is assembled with fair amount of effort.	Excellent Display is well thought out and there is evidence that the student is proud to display this project.
