iRubric: Persuasive Writing rubric

My work doesn't focus on one topic or subject. (My ideas do not relate to each other.)

I can write about one topic or subject but my ideas are not specific enough to support this topic or subject.

I can write work which holds the readers' attention. I can write ideas which focus on one topic or subject and I can give several examples to support these ideas.

My writing doesn't reflect a personal connection. (I do not relate to topic) My writing doesn't engage the reader/audience.

I can write a persuasive writing that makes a sincere attempt to engage the reader/audience. (The result is pleasant) But my effort is not interesting/compelling.

I can write so that speaks directly to the reader/audience. (I can write so that is interesting, compelling, and engaging.)

My simple sentences are choppy and the reader/audience can not follow my ideas with fluency.

My sentences are longer but lack variety, reader/audience may misunderstand some aspects. (My writing needs more rhythm.)

I can write work with a good rhythm. Sentences are well built, strong; with varied lengths for effect.
