Introduction - 3-6 sentences	Excellent Introduction is concise and introduces topic in a general but interesting way.	Good Introduction introduces topic but is wordy or too specific.	Fair Introduction attempts to introduce topic. Following points are not obvious.	Poor There is a beginning paragraph but it is not an introduction. Missing at least one element of an introduction.
3 Supporting Proofs Each paragraph has between 3-7 sentences	Excellent Three supporting proofs are listed in the introduction and are listed in the order they are written about. They are clearly described.	Good Three supporting proofs are listed in the introduction and are listed in the order they are written about. They are adequately described.	Fair Some supporting proofs are listed in the introduction but are not written about in order or are not written about at all. They are weakly described.	Poor Little or no supporting proofs are listed in the introduction. Proofs are lacking or do not support the thesis. They are poorly described.

Conventions

Flow/Transitions	Excellent Writing flows easily. Appropriate transitions used.	Good Vocabulary or writing style needs further development. Some basic transitions used.	Fair Sentences are short and/or contain run-ons or comma splices. Flow of essay is hard to follow. Little to no transitions used.	Poor Fragments abound. Difficult to follow meaning.
