Artwork is clearly determined as complete by the following indicators:
- Completion of cohesive composition. The edges of the composition are cleary established and sensible to the compositional flow.
- All marks and shapes are fully rendered in regards to their subject and /or style.
- All areas of the composition have been marked on or examined in reference to the composition. Marks made by pencils or other media convey thorough application development.

Artwork is determined to be nearly completed by the following indicators:
- Near Completion of cohesive composition. The edges of the composition are nearly established and sensible to the compositional balance.
- Nearly all marks and shapes are fully rendered in regards to their subject and /or style.
Fair

Artwork is determined to be incomplete by the following indicators:
- Incompletion of cohesive composition. The edges of the composition are not established and sensible to the compositional balance.
- Many marks and shapes are not fully rendered in regards to their subject and /or style.
Poor

Severely lacking in many respects.

Artist has developed an innovative, original and creative sketch to add to portfolio which demonstrates either further substantial growth of what's comfortable to the student or something new and challenging.
Good

Artist has developed a somewhat innovative, original and creative sketch to add to portfolio which demonstrates either further some growth of what's comfortable to the student or something somewhat new and challenging.
Fair

Artist has developed a sketch that is not very innovative, original or creative sketch. It fails to be considered as a portfolio submission as it lacks growth of what's comfortable as well as somewhat new and challenging.
Poor

Severely lacking in many respects.
Craftsmanship

Exemplary

Artist has developed a clean, refined sketch entry. It is clear that the student clearly understands how to use the materials properly and has planned the outcome through practice sketches as needed.
Good

Artist has developed a nearly clean, mostly refined sketch entry. It is mostly clear that the student understands how to use the materials properly and has planned the outcome through practice sketches as needed.
Fair

Artist has developed a sketch that lacks in cleanliness and refinement. It is clear that the student does not understand how to use the materials properly or has simply rushed the sketch entry. It is clear very little planning occurred during the development of the sketch.
Poor

Severely lacking in many respects.
Effort

Exemplary

Artist worked hard during entire duration of assignment. Student engaged and persisted and maximized class time without reminders.
Good

Artist worked during most of the assignment duration. Student engaged and persisted only when prompted by teacher.
Fair

Artist worked during some of assignment duration. Student hardly challenged oneself.
Poor

Severely lacking in many respects.
