More Story Elements

Students must pick a theme and detail the theme visually using images and supporting the theme by using evidence from the text. Using poster paper , magazines, internet sources, or hand-drawings, create a diagram that is neat, organized, and appropriate to convey your chosen theme.

	Advanced 4 pts	Proficient 3 pts	Basic 2 pts	At Risk 1 pts
Theme	Advanced Students appropriately conveys the theme & demonstrates thought. It is expressed with a complete sentence.	Proficient Students wrote a theme. A minimum of one complete sentence was used. It demonstrates some thought.	Basic Students wrote the theme but it is not expressed with a complete sentence. It demonstrates minimal thought.	At Risk There is no theme. The students simply wrote a topic or summarized the story.
Prediction	Advanced Students show that they have reasoning behind choosing their answer. They use all the information gathered from the text to make the prediction and can locate the information on the text.	Proficient Student show that they have reasoning behind choosing their answer. They use all information gathered from text to make their prediction.	Basic Students show that they have reasoning behind choosing their answer. They use some information gathered from text to make their prediction.	At Risk Student don't know or did not use any reasoning in making prediction. Can not tell why they chose words. They used no information gathered from the text to make their prediction.
Events	Advanced Students can describe all major events. All details are directly related to the story elements.	Proficient Students can describe one or two major events. Details are well related to the story elements.	Basic Students can describe one or two minor events. Students describe details not well related to the story elements.	At Risk Students can't describe main events. Students describe details not related to the story elements.
