Literature Discussion Group Students are reading novels in small groups. They are assigned a required amount of reading and a particular role (Passage Master, Plot Person, Synonym Strip Maker, Text Connector) prior to each discussion. Satisfactory Student brought most materials to class (book and packet-not completed).	Excellent Student brought all materials to class (book and completed packet).
Preparation	Unsatisfactory Student has not read any of the required text.	Needs Improvement Student has read Less than half of the required text.	Satisfactory Student has read half or more than half of the required text.	Excellent Student has clearly read all of the required text.
Role Completion	Unsatisfactory Student completed no parts of the page in the packet for the assigned role.	Needs Improvement Student completed some parts of the page in the packet for the assigned role.	Satisfactory Student completed most parts of the page in the packet for the assigned role.	Excellent Student completed all parts of the page in the packet for the assigned role.
Participation	Unsatisfactory Student is not able to add to the discussion.	Needs Improvement Student is able to participate in some of the discussion.	Satisfactory Student is able to participate in most of the discussion.	Excellent Student is able to participate in entire discussion by answering peers' questions and making thoughtful comments.
