Written explanations and problem solving procedures demonstrate major misconceptions or lack of familiarity with important definitions. Explanations are vague and/or incorrect.

Little or no conceptual understanding demonstrated.

All quantitative representations, including graphs, diagrams, numbers and/or symbols and units are correct and coherent.
MEETS EXPECTATIONS

Quantitative representations are mostly correct and coherent. May contain minor flaws such as calculation errors or 1-2 absent or incorrect units.
APPROACHING EXPECTATIONS

Quantitative representations are partially correct. Some representations may contradict each other OR many units are absent or incorrect.
NEEDS IMPROVEMENT

Quantitative representations are generally not coherent OR units are absent or incorrect throughout.
DEFICIENT

Quantitative representations are missing or mostly incorrect and/or not coherent.
