Did you show effort?
Complete Items will be counted as 'attempted' if they are complete or if the answer ends with one or more relevant questions that, if answered, would allow you to complete the answer.	EXCEEDS EXPECTATIONS All items attempted. Assignment is turned in on time.	MEETS EXPECTATIONS Almost all items attempted and assignment is turned in on time OR completed assignment is turned in 1 day late.	APPROACHING EXPECTATIONS Most items attempted and turned in on time OR completed assignment is and turned in 2 or more days late but before it is returned to other students.	NEEDS IMPROVEMENT At least 1/2 of the items attempted and turned in on time OR assignment is mostly complete but turned after it has been returned to other students.	DEFICIENT Less than 1/2 of all items attempted OR assignment is turned in after a quiz or test over the material has taken place.
Shows Work Showing work includes writing down detailed explanations, showing all steps leading up to numerical answers, and including units on all numbers.	EXCEEDS EXPECTATIONS Shows all work done, step-by-step, with all relevant details included.	MEETS EXPECTATIONS Student shows most of his/her problem-solving steps. Some small details may be missing.	APPROACHING EXPECTATIONS Shows most of the step-by-step work done, but skips some important steps.	NEEDS IMPROVEMENT Shows minimal step-by-step work.	DEFICIENT No step-by-step work shown.
Neatness Neat work is easy to interpret and follow, allowing me to give you accurate and detailed feedback.	EXCEEDS EXPECTATIONS Name is on the paper. All writing is legible, the work is exceptionally neat, organized and easy to follow. Numerical or symbolic answers are clearly circled or boxed.	MEETS EXPECTATIONS Name is on the paper. All writing is legible, work is organized and easy to follow. Work is generally neat.	APPROACHING EXPECTATIONS Name is on the paper. Writing is hard to read in a few places, or paper is generally messy.	NEEDS IMPROVEMENT Name is on the paper. Mostly hard to read, items are out of order, paper is generally messy or stapled backwards.	DEFICIENT Work is generally unreadable OR no name on paper.

Conceptual Understanding	EXCEEDS EXPECTATIONS Written explanations and problem solving procedures demonstrate thorough understanding of all concepts and ability to apply concepts beyond what was taught in class. Explanations are extremely precise and detailed.	MEETS EXPECTATIONS Written explanations and problem solving procedures demonstrate mastery of most concepts. Explanations sufficiently answer questions, but may lack minor details.	APPROACHING EXPECTATIONS Written explanations and problem solving procedures demonstrate familiarity with definitions and basic concepts. Explanations are generally correct, but may be unrefined and/or lacking in detail.	NEEDS IMPROVEMENT Written explanations and problem solving procedures demonstrate major misconceptions or lack of familiarity with important definitions. Explanations are vague and/or incorrect.	DEFICIENT Little or no conceptual understanding demonstrated.
Quantitative Analysis	EXCEEDS EXPECTATIONS All quantitative representations, including graphs, diagrams, numbers and/or symbols and units are correct and coherent.	MEETS EXPECTATIONS Quantitative representations are mostly correct and coherent. May contain minor flaws such as calculation errors or 1-2 absent or incorrect units.	APPROACHING EXPECTATIONS Quantitative representations are partially correct. Some representations may contradict each other OR many units are absent or incorrect.	NEEDS IMPROVEMENT Quantitative representations are generally not coherent OR units are absent or incorrect throughout.	DEFICIENT Quantitative representations are missing or mostly incorrect and/or not coherent.
