Document setup	Poor The song is not completed. OR The song is missing both title AND composer.	Fair The song is set up with unnecessary staves or extra measures. Title or composer is missing.	Good The song has no unused staves or blank measures. There is a title, and students' names are listed as the composers.
Note content/originality	Poor Notes are written well above or below the staff. Very repetitive, or many instances of more than 3 notes used at a time. OR The song is not completed.	Fair All notes in the song remain on the staff. Some measures contain more than two of the same note in a row. Some instances of more than 3 notes used at a time.	Good The song utilizes the full range of notes (low C to high A). Notes are played no more than twice in a row before moving to a different note. No more than 3 notes are used at once.
Note duration/originality	Poor Notes or rests smaller than a sixteenth are used consistently throughout the song. OR A note duration is repeated more than 8 times before moving to a different duration. OR The song is not completed.	Fair One or two notes/rests smaller than a 16th note are used in the song.
