Organization	Poor Is missing at least two of the following: introduction, body, conclusion.	Fair Is missing an introduction, body, or conclusion.	Satisfactory Has an introduction, body, and conclusion, but the boundaries between them are unclear.	Good Has a clear deliniation between introduction, body, and conclusion. Includes main points within the body.	Excellent Introduction, body, and conclusion are very clear. Includes main points within the body. The flow and transitions between the sections is smooth and enhances the audience understanding.
Delivery - Body	Poor , had lot of extra movement, slouched, held hands behind back, etc...	Fair Student slumped over podium or leaned on table, had lots of unnecessary movement, etc...	Satisfactory Student spent the majority of the speech with feet planted, natural gestures, , but there were noticeable periods where these were lacking.	Good Student had good posture and use of gestures. Delivery was mostly extemporaneous.	Excellent Student integrated posture, gestures, and other nonverbal behaviors so that they completed and enhanced the speech. Delivery was wholly extemporaneous.
Delivery - Voice	Poor Stumbling, lost places, and similar issues detracted from the quality of the speech.	Fair Student spoke without vocal variety and/or with difficulty keeping an appropriate rate of speech.	Satisfactory Student spoke with only occasional stumbling or lost places and used some vocal variety.	Good Student spoke clearly and articulately with consistent use of vocal variety.	Excellent Meets criteria for good. Vocal variety (tone, pace, volume, pauses) truly enhances the speech.
Delivery - Face	Poor Student did not make eye contact with the audience. Lacking meaningful expression.	Fair Eye contact with the audience was very limited. Student attempted expression.	Satisfactory Adequate eye contact. Sometimes appeared distracted. Facial expressions matched content much of the time.	Good Student maintained good eye contact with the audience during the speech. One or two breaks in expression.	Excellent Student maintained good eye contact with the audience during the speech. Facial expressions matched content and mood and enhanced meaning.
Content	Poor Did not include much in the way of content or a topic.	Fair Briefly mentions a topic but does not provide any analysis or reasoning behind the topic.	Satisfactory Mentions topic and briefly explains its significance.	Good Mentions topic and its significance. Uses the topic as a path for the speech. Student offers explanations and insights that link back to the topic.	Excellent Demonstrates command of the topic throughout the speech. Discusses the topic and its significance. Uses the topic as a path for the speech. Student offers explanations and insights that enhance the understanding of the topic.
Time	Poor Student's speech is very short.	Fair Student is significantly under time.	Satisfactory Student is slightly under time.	Good Student finishes speech at the bottom range of the time limit.	Excellent Student finishes speech at the top range of the time limit.
