Audience and Purpose (Introduction) 15 pts	Poor Writing an introduction for the autobiography was attempted but not complete.	Fair The introdcution does not adequately invite the reader and the topic is vague.	Good The introduction is not particularly inviting to the reader but still previews what is to come in the rest of the piece (Topic introducded)	Excellent The introduction is inviting and really hooks the reader with what is to come ( The topic is introduced).
Organization (Sequence of Events) 15 pts	Poor Many events are not in logical order. There is little sense that the writing is organized. The timeline was not used as a graphic organizer for this assignment. (One paragraph)	Fair Most events are placed in a logical order, but it is evident that events were not included from from the timeline assignment. (Two paragraphs)	Good Most events are in a logical order but some are either missing or in the wrong order and this distracts the reader. (3 or more paragraphs)	Excellent Events are placed in a logical order and the way they are presented effectively keeps the interest of the reader. (3 or more paragraphs)
Grammar, Spelling, & Punctuation 15 pts	Poor Writer makes more that 8 mistakes in grammar, spelling, and punctuation that distract the reader from the content.	Fair Writer makes 5-7 mistakes in grammar, spelling, or punctuation.	Good Writer makes 1-4 mistakes in grammar, spelling, or punctuation.	Excellent Writer makes no mistakes in grammar, spelling, or punctuation.
Format 15 pts	Poor Writer does not follow format in these four areas: questions not answered fully, double-spacing, 12 font, or indentation typed. Final draft is not legible and hard to read/follow.	Fair Writer does not follow format in two of the following areas: questions not answered fully, double-spacing, 12 font, indentation or typed. Final draft is readable.
