Demonstrates the developmentally appropriate ability to develop an effective treatment plan and select models or techniques that are generally consistent with a presenting issue/s. Demonstrates moderate understanding of the mechanics of the change process. Able to apply developmentally appropriate influence strategies.

Provides evaluations and/or assessments of client/s that may be incomplete or lack important dimensions of clients presenting concerns and underlying issues. Treament plans show limited insight, depth and are somewhat superficial. Models and techniques are applied without clear understanding of how they relate to clients presenting issue/s. Demonstrates understanding and adherence of ethical standards for therapists. Proactively and critically explores legal issues, values and professional standards as they are integrated into the counseling practice. Understands when to seek supervision related to ethical concerns or questions.

Demonstrates exceptional understanding of effective therapist characteristics and how the person of the therapist impacts the therapeutic relationship. Clearly understands limitations of self, areas of transference, countertransference in therapy and is able to determine when to seek supervision and/or make appropriate referrals. Demonstrates the ability to proactively form professional and collaborative relationships those professionals with whom he or she has regular contact.
Meets Competency

Demonstrates limited insight into self as therapist and how that affects the theraputic relationship. Minimally aware of personal characterisitics of self and role of self as therapist. Exhibits limited insight into persoanl areas of transference, countertransference in therapy. Has considerable difficulty forming professional and collaborative relationships with peers, supervisors, and those professionals with whom he or she has regular contact.
