Argumentative Essay 
Students are given a topic and are required to write a persuasive argument either for or against it. Students are to ensure their writing has a clear position, three arguments (Ethos, Pathos, Logos) supporting position, a counteragument with rebuttal and a CTA. Each paragraph is to discuss one key point supporting the arguement.

Position is not clear and there is no POV statement.
Logos Arguement Paragraph 2-4

Excellent

Facts and reasons support position statement. Evidence includes logical explanation, facts and/or statistics.
Good

Facts and reasons supporting POV are presented in reasonable order but not all reasons are convincing.
Fair

Facts and reasons are weak and do not show strong support of argument. Evidence doesn´t include logical explanation, facts and/or statistics.
Pathos Arguement Paragraph 2-4

Excellent

Argument supports position statement. It connects with the audience’s emotions through stories, imagery, or personal experiences.
Good

Argument supports position statement. But it somewhat connects with the audience’s emotions through stories, imagery, or personal experiences.
Fair

Argument doesn´t supports position statement. They do NOT connect with the audience’s emotions through stories, imagery, or personal experiences.

Counterarguement and Rebuttal Paragraph 5

Excellent

Counterargument acknowledges opposing viewpoints and refutes them with strong reasoning.
Good

Counterargument acknowledges opposing viewpoints but doesn´t refute them with strong reasoning.
Fair

Counterargument doesn´t acknowledges opposing viewpoints or is not stated.
Counterarguments and rebuttal are not included.
Call to action (CTA) Paragraph 6

Excellent

The CTA is clear and encourage the audience to take immediate action.
Good

The CTA is somewhat clear and doesn´t encourage the audience to take immediate action.
Fair

The CTA is not clear and/or encourages the audience to take immediate action. CTA is NOT included.
Grammar and punctuation

Excellent

The writing is carefully checked and contains easy to read, flowing sentences. There are NO spelling or punctuation mistakes.
