Theme and Message	Strong Clearly explains the song's surface meaning, deeper meaning and theme.	Developing Clearly explains 2 of the following: song's surface meaning, deeper meaning and theme.	Beginning Does not address 2 or more of the following or is not clear: song's surface meaning, deeper meaning and theme.
Tone Analysis	Strong Shows excellent understanding of artist tone and found at least two tone words with text evidence.	Developing You show good understanding of artist tone used. Found two tone words with no text evidence.	Beginning You show minimal understanding of artist tone . Found 1 tone word .
Poetic Devices	Strong At least 3-5 poetic devices/terms are correctly identified by line number.	Developing 2 or less devices are identified or not all devices are correctly identified.	Beginning Student attempts to identify devices, but it is apparent that the student does not understand.
Evidence	Strong Clearly explains how three literary elements support the song's meaning. Explanations fully support the song analysis. Presentation- Public Speaking public speaking	Strong Showed exellent professionalism and confidence with extreme knowlede of the subject matter. Excellent projection of voice and crowd control.	Developing Displaced a good understanding of the the content with minor delivery errors.	Beginning Displayed lack of confidence. The voice wasn't projected.
Slide Show Product	Strong Followed all of the guidelines . Slides are easy to follow and creative.	Developing Met majority of the guidelines .	Beginning Slides were not easy to follow and only completed half of the guidelines.
