Stage Presentation

Excellent

Student is very organized in entering and leaving the stage and pay attention to the conductor at the beginning, ending, and various times in the middle of each piece.
Good

Student enters and leaves stage in a fairly organized manner and pays attention to the conductor at the beginning and end of each piece of music.
Fair

Student enters and leaves the stage in a somewhat organized way and pays attention to the conductor at random times.
Poor

Student does not enter or leave stage in an organized way and does not pay attention to the conductor at any time of the performance
Rhythmic Accuracy

Excellent

Student plays rhythmically perfect.
Good

Student plays with good rhythmic accuracy, plays with a steady pulse, does not rush or drag the beat.
Fair

Student plays with some rhythmic accuracy, but has some problems as well.
Poor

Student has no concept of pulse, speeds up or slows down, does not play correct note lengths.
Pitch Accuracy

Excellent

Student plays every note perfect and in tune.
Good

Student plays almost all correct notes with good intonation.
Fair

Student plays a fair number of correct pitches, somewhat in tune.
Poor

Student plays almost all wrong notes, has the wrong fingers pressed, makes no effort to correct himself, does not seems to have a concept of reading the notes, is completely out of tune.
Tone Quality

Excellent

Student plays with excellent tone quality, very characteristic of the instrument
Good

Student plays with good tone quality most of the time
Fair

Student plays with a fairly good tone, but still a bit rough around the edges.
Poor

Student plays with completely uncharachteristic tone with no effort to try and correct the tone. No effort is made to play with correct embouchure.
Overall Effect

Excellent

Student gives an excellent performance with few or no distractions.
Good

Student gives an overall good performance with few distractions.
Fair

Student gives an overall fair performance with a fair number of distractions.
Poor

Student does not give an overall positive presentation and is a total distraction to the performance.
