Movie Trailer
Students are to create a movie trailer on a short film. The trailer, known as the preview to audiences, is the standard way of advertising your film. This acts as a commercial for your movie that tells a little about the film, using footage from that film.

Setting and Props

Advanced

Setting is a realistic representation of the scenario. The dialogue and setting are in harmony with each other and strengthen the film. Props are properly used and help support the reality of the scene. Creativity and effort is demonstrated as a result.
Good

Setting is a realistic representation of the scenario. The dialogue and setting are connected. Props are properly used and help support the reality of the scene.
Fair

Setting can be a realistic representation of the scenario with a little imagination. The dialogue and setting are roughly harmonious with each other but does weaken the reality of the short film. Little prop use. If used, does little to help support the reality of the scene. For the most part, things correlate well but somethings seem out of place. Creativity and effort is demonstrated but could be improved.
Poor

Setting is not realistic to the scenario. Students did very little to provide a setting and relied on teacher heavily to provide a setting. The dialogue and scenario do not correlate well with the setting. Props not used at all or have little to do with scene. Creativity and effort is hard to find.
Camera Shots

Filming is steady, easy to see and depicts reality of the subject filmed. Lighting is good. A variety of camera angles and movement is used strategically.
Good

Filming is sporadic and doesn't follow any reliable angles. Lighting is poor.

Fair

Mainly serious. Some silliness and forgotten lines. Some attempt in portraying the character accurately and gives good effort. Some deviation from the script and plan.
Poor

Very silly. Not ready to work. Forgets lines several times or doesn't know them at all. No effort applied to portraying the character. Speaks too softly and inaudible.

Scenes & Essence

Editing

Advanced

Scenes are chosen appropriately. They are short and filled with text or action, or other relevant moments from the novel. Theme is clear.
Good

Scenes are chosen appropriately for the most part. A few scenes might not be relevant to capturing the essence of the treatment.
Fair

Scenes chosen do not add to trailer and are weak. Theme is off or missing. Many clips are lengthy or leave me wondering what the movie is about.
Poor

I do not see a clear connection at all to your movie trailer scenes and the treatment.
Sound (must have music)

Advanced

Musical background was great. Sound created suspense and was not overpowering. Voices could be heard.
Good

Voices and music were basically a good match. Some sounds may have been hard to hear or overpowering.
Fair

Music did not fit or sound and voices were impossible to hear.
Poor

No music or improper sound quality.

Group Dynamics/Planning

Advanced

You seemed to work well together. Your trailer looks like you all contributed effectively. knew your roles, and planned it out. Everyone had a share. Movie poster(s) were created with all 5 elements and was exceptionally designed.
Good

Overall it looks like your group worked together on this, but some evidence that you had a breakdown in group dynamics exists. Did someone get left out? Movie poster(s) were created with all 5 elements and had good design.
Fair

Your film did not seem to have a sense of teamwork. Either one person did too much or maybe one or two people didn't pull their share. It didn't seem to come together well. Movie poster(s) were created with all 5 elements and has a fair design.
Poor

This looks like it was one person's project or even too few in the group knew what was going on. It was a mess. Movie poster(s) were created but missing elements.
Overall Effort

Advanced

Worked wholeheartedly on the project. No prompts needed. Exceptional work ethic.
Good

When given the time to work, focused on work. Little to no prompts needed from teacher to continue working. Demonstrated great effort throughout.
Fair

Wasted some time but got the job done when needed. Some teacher prompts needed. Demonstrated good effort throughout.
Poor

Wasted a lot of time. Failed to complete all of the requirements on time. Need constant monitoring. Demonstrated poor effort throughout.
