Character Development Is the student creative in his/her development and delivery of their character?	Falls Short of Expectations Character objective and motivation is lacking. There is little depth or range of choices. Student frequently chooses the safe or obvious choices when working on a character.	Meets Expectations Character's motivation is somewhat defined. Depth and range of choices is adequate.	Surpasses Expectations Character objective and motivation is well-defined. Depth and range of choices is expansive. Student has natural instincts and brings brave, “out of the box” ideas to their work.	Points

Focus in class Does the student come to class each week focused ready to work and create. Can the student take direction and make corrections. Meets Expectations Student's awareness and willingness to connect to other ensemble members is acceptable. Student's ability to work as part of a team is sufficient. Occasionally, gives unsolicited corrections to classmates.	Surpasses Expectations Student's awareness and willingness to connect to other ensemble members is very apparent. Student's ability to work as part of a team is extraordinary. Is a leader in the class and ready to jump in to help whenever needed.	Points
Musicality/singing Does the student contribute musically to the performance? Can they sing on pitch and in rhythm/tempo	Falls Short of Expectations Student lip-synchs or sings mostly off pitch. Lacks confidence and tone when singing.	Meets Expectations Student is engaged in the music, expresses emotion and sings accurately on pitch. Needs work on confidence and tone. Shows promise and works hard.	Surpasses Expectations Student sings masterfully and interprets the material with accuracy and flair. Student has great tone and pitch and sings healthfully.	Points
Dance Is the Student able to tell the story through the choreography? Do they pick up quickly and show proficiency in Tap and Theatre Dance.	Falls Short of Expectations Student does not remember dance moves and has difficulty learning choreography. Lacks energy when dancing and the Execution of the choreography is inconsistent.	Meets Expectations Student executes the dance moves with appropriate expression in time to the music. They consistently work hard to learn choreography but need more dance training to gain confidence and assist in picking movement up quickly.	Surpasses Expectations Student dances confidently and executes the choreography with energy and precision. Is able to tell a story through movement and not drop the character.	Points
