Mathematical Modeling & Logic

Outstanding

Linear model is complete and correct; logic used is mathematically sound.
On Target

Linear model is complete and mostly correct; errors occur in representation; logic is mathematically sound.
Minimum Target

Missing 1 segment of required linear model; therefore linear model is incomplete; 1 error in logic occurs which invalidates the equation.
Below Target

Segments of linear model are incomplete or missing; 2 or more logic errors occur which invalidates the equation.
Understanding of Concept

Outstanding

Linear model is correct and there is a thorough explanation making connections between the parts of the equation and the elements in the problem.
On Target

Linear model is correct, but is not correctly or thoroughly explained.
Minimum Target

Parts of the linear model are incorrect or not properly explained.
Below Target

The linear model is completely incorrect or missing.
Written Explanation

Outstanding

Explanation is detailed and clear and greatly adds to the reader's understanding of the problem. It answers all questions posed in the problem.
On Target

.Explanation is clear and answers all of the questions posed in the problem.
Minimum Target

Explanation is somewhat difficult to understand, but includes critical components.
Below Target

Explanation is difficult to understand and is missing several components or was not included.
Neatness and Organization

Outstanding

The work is presented in a neat, clear, organized, fashion that is easy to read and eye-catching.
On Target

The work is presented in a neat and organized fashion that is easy usually easy to read.
Minimum Target

The work is presented in an organized fashion but may be difficult to read at times.
Below Target

The work appears sloppy and unorganized. Conclusions are not clear to the reader.
Follows Directions

Outstanding

All components are included.
On Target

All components present; Minimal explanation is given; however, the details of the linear model are evident. Slope and y-intercept is clearly noted on the paper.
Minimum Target

Most of the required linear model is completed; explanations are limited or missing; infrequent or no use of math terms to explain parts of the equation.
Below Target

Problem and linear model is given with little or no detail on how slope and y-intercept was attained.
