Writing

Poor

There are facts about the restaurant but the style is bland because of weak word choice and no use of metaphor. Verbs include words such as "like" and "enjoy." There are too many generic expressions of praise: "The spicy meatballs were really great, and they are a favorite of everybody who comes here."
Fair

There are all the same issues as in a 1, but small parts of the review are written on the level of a 3 or 4.
Good

The author uses comparisons to describe the taste of the food and ambiance of the restaurant. "The rainbow carrots, poised like rocket ships on the plate..." "Tasting the buttery croissants is as comforting as snuggling under the warmest blanket at grandma's house."

The author correctly uses some surprising adjectives and verbs

The beginning of the review draws the reader in.

There may be a few tiny parts that are on the level of a 1
Excellent

A 4 does all the things a 3 does. The difference is in the level of consistency. There are no parts that are on the level of a 1.
Revision

Poor

0 = No draft was submitted

1 = there are only minor changes between the draft and the final version. Grammatical changes were corrected on Grammarly, but nothing else was done.

**CHANGES MUST BE HIGHLIGHTED so that I can easily see them.**
Fair

In addition to grammatical revisions, a few other minor improvements were made. No significant changes were made that made the review noticeably better.
Good

In addition to grammatical revisions and other minor revisions, many significant changes have been made that improve the essay.
For instance, there is evidence that sentences have completely been rewritten. Parts were deleted. A few sentences were added.
Excellent

All the things a 3 does with a few additions. Major changes have been made. Half a paragraph or more has been deleted and rewritten. Sentences/paragraphs are reordered. New parts are added.
