Phrasing/Fluidity - 15 How well does the student use his/her understanding of the story to inform his/her reading?	Advanced Student's reading of selection is natural; no unwarranted pauses. Student varies pitch and does not speak in monotone.	Intermediate Student adequately conveys meaning with pauses.	Novice Pauses interfere with natural flow of language. Reading may be fragmented; barely intelligible.
Pronunciation - 15 Does the student stress each word on the correct syllable?	Advanced All words are accented correctly.	Intermediate Most words are accented correctly.	Novice Numerous errors cause the reading to be unintelligible in places.
