Comprehension	Excellent Displays an extensive understanding of the characters and chapters selected; plot and setting enhance meaning of the book/chapter for the reader.	Good Displays a clear understanding of the characters and chapters selected; plot and setting leave the reader slightly confused as to the meaning of the book/chapter.	Fair Displays a minimal understanding of the characters and chapters selected; plot and setting do not represent meaning at all.	Poor Does not display an understanding of the characters and chapter; plot and setting are missing entirely.
Captions & Thought/Speech Bubbles	Excellent Captions and thought/speech bubbles are related to the the story; connections to story are easy to understand.	Good Captions and thought/speech bubbles are related to the story; most connections to story are easy to understand.	Fair Captions and/or thought/speech bubbles are somewhat related to the story; connections are less obvious and hard to understand.	Poor Captions and/or thought/speech bubbles do not relate to the story; no demonstration of text comprehension; no connection to story.
Creativity	Excellent Project is creative, unique, and shows excellent originality and comprehension of story.	Good Project is original; shows care and organization as well as vague comprehension of story.	Fair Project shows little originality; clearly confusion in comprehension of story.	Poor Project contains no originality, creativeness or comprehension; writing copied directly from text.
Quality	Excellent Final product shows preparation and thought throughout; captions and speech bubbles are original, comprehensive, and placed appropriately on each page. Fair Parts of novel shows lack of preparation and thought; captions and speech bubbles connect to story but are haphazardly placed.
