Students will research an individual and write a biography on their life and contribution(s) to society.

BIOGRAPHY
	LEVEL 1 Student has trouble meeting requirements of criteria. (N/A)	LEVEL 2 Student has met some of the criteria's requirements. (N/A)	LEVEL 3 Student has met most of the criteria's requirements. (N/A)	LEVEL 4 Student has met all of the criteria's requirements. (N/A)
FORMAT Biography must contain all elements of a written biography paper (e.g. Title Page, Bibliography, etc)	LEVEL 1 Biography is less then four paragraphs and/or is missing several key elements (e.g. bibliography, title page, etc.).	LEVEL 2 Biography contains some of the key elements and is at least three paragraphs in length.	LEVEL 3 Biography contains most of the necessary elements including title page, image of the individual, and a bibliography. Biography is also a minimum of four paragraphs in length.	LEVEL 4 Biography contains all necessary elements including title page, image of the individual, and a bibliography. Biography is also a minimum of four paragraphs in length.
RESEARCH Students will conduct research on the individual using a minimum of three resources of varying types (e.g. books, encyclopedias, internet, etc...).	LEVEL 1 Student does minimal research, using only one or two source materials.	LEVEL 2 Student uses a minimum of three sources of material for research, but does not vary source material.	LEVEL 3 Student uses a minimum of three sources of material for research from varying source materials, which includes the use of the internet as well as some publications.	LEVEL 4 Student uses a minimum of three sources of material for research from varying source materials, which must include the use of the internet as well as publications.
SPELLING & GRAMMAR Project must make proper use of spelling and grammar.	LEVEL 1 Student has many errors in spelling and/or grammar that impact the readers understanding of the writing.	LEVEL 2 Students makes various errors in grammar and/or spelling, but the reader has a clear understanding of the author's intent.	LEVEL 3 Student has few errors in spelling and/or grammar.	LEVEL 4 Student has no errors in spelling and/or grammar.
BIBLIOGRAPHY Students will properly cite research material using a bibliography.	LEVEL 1 Student does not use a bibliography and/or does not properly cite source material.	LEVEL 2 Student uses a bibliography but has made some mistakes in properly formatting citation of source material.	LEVEL 3 Student properly cites some sources of material in their bibliography.	LEVEL 4 Student properly cites a minimum of three sources of material in their bibliography.
SEQUENCING Students will put events in a chronological time order.	LEVEL 1 Biography does not follow a chronological time line. Order is confusing to reader.	LEVEL 2 Biography generally follows a chronological time line, but has events out of order.	LEVEL 3 Biography follows a chronological time line with most events in order.	LEVEL 4 Biography follows a chronological time line with all events in order.
INFORMATION Biography must include : where/when and date of birth, family info, education, jobs and contribution to society.	LEVEL 1 Student includes sparse information about the individual's life and contribution to society.	LEVEL 2 Student has some missing information on the individual's life and/or does not explain relevance of their contribution to society.	LEVEL 3 Student includes most of the required information on the individual's life and describes the relevance of their contribution to society.
