Identify the Quadrant	Advanced Student understands the characteristics of the 4 quadrants; student can identify all 4 with correct Roman Numerals: student can plot the points correctly; shape is clearly drawn and identified.	Proficient Student understands the characteristics of the 4 quadrants; Student can identify 3 with correct Roman Numerals:student can plot 3 of the points correctly; minor mistakes; shape can be identified.	Basic Student is confused about 1-2 of the quadrants; some of the points are plotted correctly; some of the shapes can be identified.	Below Basic Student does not understand the characteristics of the 4 quadrants; the points are plotted incorrectly; shapes are not identified.
Identify the Polygon	Advanced Student is able to create each polygon, can name it, and understands two characteristics of it.	Proficient Student is able to create each polygon, confused with one of the shapes, understands two characteristics of each shape with minor mistakes.	Basic Student is able to create each shape but is confused with the names and characteristics; characteristics are incorrect or missing on 2 polygons.	Below Basic Student is unable to create the polygons, cannot name them and is unable to identify any correct characteristics.
Explanation	Advanced Student is able to explain steps of project using first, next and then.	Proficient Student is able to explain the project but does not use first, next and then.	Basic Student does not explain the project completely.	Below Basic Student is unable to explain the project.
Labels	Advanced All shapes have points labeled.	Proficient All shapes have points labeled; some polygons missing the height and/or the base; minor mistakes.	Basic Shapes are missing most labels or are labeled incorrectly.	Below Basic Shapes are not labeled.
Overall Presentation	Advanced Coordinate plane is drawn neatly; shapes are created using a ruler; plane is decorated and is creative; excellent.	Proficient Coordinate plane is drawn neatly; shapes are created neatly, no ruler used; plane is decorated; good.	Basic Coordinate plane is completed but messy in spots; shapes are not connected with straight lines or is missing color.
