Handwriting This rubric can be used to assess student handwriting in many different assignments.
	Beginning 1 pts	Emerging 2 pts	Developed 3 pts	Mastered 4 pts
Line Usage 4 pts How well are the students using their writing lines?	Beginning Many errors in line usage.	Emerging Few errors using lines correctly.	Developed Uses lines correctly most of the time.	Mastered Always uses lines correctly.
Spacing 4 pts How well are students spacing their letters and/or words?	Beginning Many errors in spacing.	Emerging Few errors using spacing correctly.	Developed Uses proper spacing most of the time.	Mastered Always uses proper spacing.
Letter Formation 4 pts How well are students forming their letters correctly?	Beginning Many errors in letter formation. Incorrect letter formations.	Emerging Few errors in letter formation. Few letters are formed incorrectly.	Developed Most letters are formed correctly.	Mastered Consistently forms all letters correctly.
Readability 4 pts How easy is it to read the students' writing?	Beginning Many errors in readability.	Emerging Few errors in readability.	Developed Very easy to read.	Mastered Always easy to read.
Neatness 4 pts How neat is the students' handwriting?	Beginning Difficult to read.	Emerging Not as neatly done.	Developed Writes neatly.	Mastered Always writes neatly.
