This is a rubric for a culminating activity/project of a poetry unit- students have to choose what they feel is the best poem they have written throughout the unit, make any necessary changes, and turn in a final copy along with an illustration/visual component.

Form 20 pts	Exceeding Standards The poem completely follows its intended form.	Meeting Standards The majority of the poem is written in its proper form and structure, but some parts do not follow the proper form and structure.	Below Standards The poem does not follow its proper form and structure at all.
Poetic Devices/Techniques 20 pts	Exceeding Standards The poet has effectively employed more than two poetic devices/techniques to creatively convey the poem's mood and meaning.	Meeting Standards Only two poetic devices//techniques have been used in the poem. Or, one or more have been used incorrectly.	Below Standards No poetic devices/techniques are used in the poem.
Grammar and Mechanics 20 pts	Exceeding Standards 0-1 spelling and/or grammatical errors.	Meeting Standards 2-3 spelling and/or grammatical errors.	Below Standards More than 3 spelling and/or grammatical errors.
